Shadwell Aberdeen-Angus Female Family lines

The Blackbird family is one of the most prolific dam lines in the herd and traces back to the original T22 of Blelack.  This line produces strong females with great breed character, depth and length, longevity and milk.  Bulls from this family have excelled in both pedigree and commercial herds and have great carcase attributes (including Shadwell Black Broughton whom we sold to Messrs Fraser & Son for a herd record five-figure sum in 2012).  In 2015, Black Broughton was inter-breed champion at the Royal Highland Show and breed champion at the Summer National.

The Evora family has, without doubt, given us our most high profile success in the show and sale rings with Shadwell Evora J443 producing Excalibur who was junior and supreme champion at the February bull sales in 2013 and Evora M618 winning the summer national breed champion and the first ever junior Angus champion in 2014. Their full brother Shadwell Evor was sold to Andrew Brown’s Hawsted Lodge herd to become their junior herd sire and in 2018 Shadwell Excel, another full brother, was sold aged 13 months for £10,000 to Nick and Liz Reid for their Overbury Hall herd.

Eyrie goes back to the same family line as the UK record priced £32,000 cow Blelack Eyrie G197.  Our very own Shadwell Eyrie 224 has bred us Shadwell Ebenezer who was unbeaten in his class at five shows and was reserve male champion at the Summer National 2014.  In 2018 having served 106 cows the previous year, Ebenezer was Interbreed Champion at The Royal Norfolk Show and Breed Champion at the Royal Welsh.

Jayne Erica

The Jayne Erica family trace back to Jayne Erica W48 of Blelack. They have proved worthy breeders and are our most numeric female line. Recently Shadwell Jafar Eric was sold to Genus he is a grandson of W48 by Peter Pershore.

Jury Erica

The Jury Erica family go back to Jury Erica N20 of Blelack. One of our best breeding cows is Jury Erica K468; she was a first prize winner herself as well as being the dam of Jimuta Eric who was male champion at the Junior Angus Nationals held at the Livestock Event in 2015 and also heifer R790 was successful in the ring in 2017.

Lady Heathers

Lady Heathers are a recent addition with two embryos purchased from Blelack.  The resultant calves were Shadwell Lady Heather 572 and Shadwell Lord Haafhd by Peter Pershore out of Blelack Lady Heather D977 making them full siblings to the £25,000 Blelack Lord Hidalgo. Lord Haafhd was junior interbreed bull champion at Suffolk County and Lady Heather 572 was breed champion at Royal Norfolk, reserve breed champion at Suffolk and interbreed champ at South Suffolk.

Successful show heifer of 2018 Pam was junior champion at the Great Yorshire and South of England shows and Champion female and native female beef at the Royal Norfolk show.

The Rose family have had great success in recent years with Shadwell Rose N660 winning the breed champion and native interbreed champion at the Royal Norfolk Show, she was also first at the Summer National and reserve supreme champion at Edenbridge in 2014.  Rose N687 won the interbreed championship at the Royal Norfolk and breed champion at the Three Counties in 2015.  Her first bull calf Shadwell Romeo was sold at 13 months of age in 2018 for £9,000 to Rook's Nest Estate.

Rosa Erica

Rosa Erica’s came from Rosa Erica V33 of Penguin; she was a successful show cow and lived to the age of 17.  Rosa Erica H389 although never shown has been judged 2 years running as the best cow in the East of England herd competition.  Shadwell Rosa Erica L560 was supreme champion at the calf show held at the Peterborough Winter Stock Festival in 2012 and Rosa Erica P721 was a first prize winner seven times and took the junior championship at Newbury and also the reserve breed champion at the Royal Norfolk and Three Counties shows in 2015.  Both are granddaughters of V33.
